DMV Partners with Richmond's Carver Community
Mobile Office will Provide All DMV Transactions at Weekend Festival
RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles' mobile customer service center, called DMV 2 Go, will be open for business at the annual Carver Community Day Festival on Saturday, April 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The event is free, open to the public, and will be held at the Commonwealth Cancer Institute located at 1109 W. Marshall Street in Richmond's Carver community. The festival, complete with food, children's activities, and entertainment, is sponsored by the Carver-VCU Partnership and the Carver Civic Improvement League.
The purpose of Carver Community Day is to engage the local community with a variety of housing, health and wellness, employment, and educational opportunities. The annual event promotes the physical and mental health of individuals and families in the Carver community.
The Department of Motor Vehicles is offering support through the DMV 2 Go mobile office. The full service mobile office provides all DMV transactions including driver's licenses and adult and child ID cards, disabled parking placards, vehicle titles, license plates and decals. In addition, if Virginians have recently moved, they can stop in to update their addresses on their DMV record and also update voter registration and organ donor status. Thanks to a new partnership with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF), DMV customers can now buy hunting and fishing licenses.
DMV 2 Go is equipped with the latest wireless technology to accomplish the needed connection to DMV's computer systems. The wireless capability allows the units to provide secure service at virtually any location.
"We work every day to bring services to our customers at a time and place convenient for them," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "This festival is a perfect opportunity for Carver residents to conduct their DMV businesses while learning about other important services available in their community."
