DMV Mobile Office Returns to Provides Service in Forest
All DMV Services Available Outside Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce July 25
RICHMOND - DMV's mobile customer service center, called DMV 2 Go, will return to provide all DMV services at the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, Forest Satellite office, located at 14805 Forest Road, Suite 107, Forest, VA, 24551 on July 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the partnership between DMV and the Forest Chamber of Commerce will be held at 11:00 a.m. A number of legislators and other local dignitaries are slated to attend.
DMV 2 Go is a handicapped-accessible full service office on wheels that provides all DMV transactions including applying for and renewing driver's licenses and ID cards. Thanks to a partnership with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF), customers can now buy hunting and fishing licenses from DMV. DMV 2 Go is equipped with the latest wireless technology to accomplish the needed connection to DMV's computer systems. The wireless capability allows the units to provide secure service at virtually any location.
"We have visited the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce location in Forest in the past with great success, and we are excited to offer return service," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. During DMV 2 Go's first visit last month, staff conducted more than 75 transactions.
Providing full DMV service at the Chamber of Commerce will allow customers to receive multiple services at one stop. "Many people are coming to the Chamber of Commerce because they are new to the area and need information, so we know they might need DMV services too; this partnership helps fulfill our commitment to serve customers in a place convenient to them."
