Dealer Services: Drive-Away License Plates Application Process/Fees

To obtain a registration card and drive-away license plates, you must apply to the DMV Dealer Services Work Unit and submit the following:

• A completed Form DSD-9 application.
• A photocopy of your current business license in the town, city or county in which your business is located.
  
  The business license must show the physical address of the location at which the drive-away license plates will be kept.
• A financial institution must submit a copy of its SCC license or the first page of its charter.

The fee for the first two drive-away license plates is $75. For each additional license plate the fee $20 per license plate. You must also certify automobile liability insurance coverage for each plate and must maintain liability insurance as long as the license plate remains valid.
