Online Fleet
The Automated Interface System provides an electronic link between DMV and companies who would like to title and license their own vehicles from their company location. The fleets may be comprised of rental vehicle or non-rental vehicles. Rental vehicles are vehicles owned by a company and the vehicles are rented for less than a 12-month period. Non-rental vehicles can be vehicles leased to companies or individual customers for more than a 12-month period. Non-rental fleets can also be for companies such as a trucking company or a utility company that would like to title and license their own vehicles from their place of business using a third party vendors software program. An online fleet may also title and license vehicles for another company using the third party software if they have provided DMV with a Power of Attorney from the company. The Power of Attorney must be granted to the specific person or persons who will process the transactions.
The interface provides a means for the fleets to issue registration cards, metal license plates and decals at the point where the company is located or in the case of rental vehicles where the fleet of rental vehicles may be located. DMV's files are immediately updated to reflect the new owner of the vehicle. A certificate of title is mailed to the fleet once the Electronic Funds Transfer is received from their vendor.
The interface is facilitated by software and hardware provided by a third party vendor under contract with the fleet. There are currently two authorized vendors of these services, CVR and triVIN. Information on contacting these vendors is provided in the "contacts" section of this document.
