How do I "subscribe" to a feed?

Subscribing is easy. All you need is an RSS/news reader or compatible web browser and the URL for the feed. Just look for this Subscribe to DMV Web Feed image, and click on it.

Copy the URL, such as http://www.dmv.virginia.gov/webdoc/feeds/rss/dmv.asp, and paste it into your reader. Consult your reader's supporting documentation for further information.

What is an RSS feed?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, an XML based format for sharing and distributing web content. For you it's an ideal way to get up-to-the-minute news, information, and web content from a web site. Once you sign up (or subscribe) to DMV's RSS feed, DMV will deliver the most current news and information to you automatically.

Why would I want an RSS feed?

Because DMV's web site contains so much information, we want to be able to alert you to the most current news, programs or issues that might affect you. You'll see DMV's latest news releases as well as information regarding DMV services, legislative changes, safety initiatives, and more as soon as it is published.

What is an RSS/news reader?

To receive and view feeds, you will need some form of feed reader. Feed readers are available as both desktop clients and web-based services such as those offered by Yahoo, AOL, or Google. Additionally, the newest releases of many popular web browsers such as Internet Explorer 7.0 and Mozilla Firefox 2.0 have built-in functionality for finding, subscribing, and viewing feeds.
