RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announces a new partnership to provide selected DMV services in Russell County.

Called DMV Selects, private citizens and local governments contract with DMV to conduct vehicle-related transactions. DMV currently has 56 DMV Select partners throughout the state. Each DMV Select has online access to DMV allowing the partner to update customer records immediately as well as issue vehicle decals.

The Russell DMV Select office will be operated by Randy Williams, Commissioner of the Revenue, beginning Monday, July 13. The Russell DMV Select is located at 137 Highlands Drive in the Russell County Government Center in Lebanon. The office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 pm.

"Our contractual partners provide a valuable service to Virginians," said DMV Commissioner D.B. Smit. "Instead of visiting a full-service customer service center, customers can conduct many routine motor vehicle-related services at this convenient new location."

Customers are encouraged to renew vehicle registrations at DMV Select offices, or they should use a variety of convenient preferred services. The website, www.dmvNOW.com, is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, customers can use the mail or DMV's automated telephone service (1-888-337-4782). A statutory $5 fee is added to vehicle registration renewal transactions conducted in a DMV customer service center.
