DMV Offices Closed for Columbus Day
Save Money with Online Vehicle Registration Renewal
RICHMOND - All Virginia Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) customer service centers (CSC) will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2009 in observance of Columbus Day.
Although offices will be closed, DMV offers a variety of convenient options for customers to conduct routine transactions without visiting a CSC. Customers may renew their vehicle registrations or driver's licenses online at www.dmvNOW.com 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, customers can use the mail or DMV's automated telephone service (1-888-337-4782).
DMV encourages customers to use the Internet, phone, mail or a DMV Select to renew their vehicle registrations. Customers receive a $1 discount when renewing decals online, and additional discounts for renewing for two or three years. A $5 per-transaction fee is added to vehicle renewals conducted in a full-service CSC, unless the renewal is in conjunction with another transaction.
DMV offices are normally busy the first day after a holiday, so customers are urged to plan ahead.
